This cheese gets its name from the Emme River in the beautiful country of Switzerland.  This classic Swiss cheese is made from cows milk with a full flavored creamy open-air taste and a subtle sweet, nutty, and fruity flavor.  Ivory to light yellow in color with cherry size holes regularly distributed.  An excellent cheese course choice, and perfect for sandwiches or salads. Emmentaler can also be used in fondue or grated on soups. Try with a Muscadet or fruity red wine.
